Dear Parents,

Please come and help pack our Mishloach Manot which are going to be given to all The Hebrew Academy families and staff. We will be packing on Wednesday evening, February 29, 2012 at 7:30 pm in the shul.

We need your help and would appreciate any time you can give if even for a short time. 'Many hands short work make'!

Mrs. Baum
PTA President

Dear Parents,

We have some very exciting events happening at The Hebrew Academy, which have been sponsored by our PTA, and we want to make sure nobody misses out on the opportunity to participate.  Here is a list of the fun activities  and the sign up dates:

Challah Fundraiser:

Starting on Friday, February 17th, your child can bring home challah for your Shabbos table from Zaddie’s Bakery.  If you are interested, please complete the attached form. The sign up deadline is Friday, February 10th so that we can start placing orders.  Zaddie’s challahs are also sold at Wesley Kosher, if you would like the opportunity to sample them. See attached flyer for details.

PTA Family Dinner:

On Sunday, February 26th, a delicious dinner will be served in the Shul of The Hebrew Academy, and fun entertainment will be provided for the children.  Sign up deadline is Friday, February 10th. The cost for this wonderful event is $18.00 for the entire family.  Gifts will be raffled off. See attached flyer for details.

If you would be interested in sponsoring the dinner, please let us know.   Also, we are looking for volunteers to help set up and clean up after the dinner.  If you are available, please contact Mrs. Vaspol at 845-634-0951.

Your child brought home a brochure which contains a variety of coupons for supermarkets, entertainment, clothing, etc.  Payment of $25.00 or return of the book is due on Friday, February 10th.

Mishloach Manot:

Attached you will find a letter explaining the Mishloach Manot greeting gifts.  Please send in your check for $36.00 by Friday, February 24th to participate in this mitzvah.

Your support  in the PTA program is greatly needed,  as our PTA sponsors many functions/items within the school – i.e. Rosh Chodesh treats, holiday treats, school activities, supplies etc.

Thank you.

President of the PTA

Get out of the cold and go to Chabad where you will warm up at Hawaiian Purim Luau! Well, not exactly in Hawaii (that would be nice!), but there will be plenty of fun and great food for the whole family at our community Purim Feast and Celebration.

The event begins with Megilah Reading at 5:30pm, followed by a Hawaiian buffet dinner of Hawaiian delicacies including an array of island style salads, tangy sesame chicken, Hawaiian Chicken Teriyaki and pineapple sorbet, tropical and exotic cocktails and Hawaiian L’chaims!

Everyone will have a chance to design and create their own Plumeria Lei, and enjoy Jewish Hawaiian music. Adults and children are encouraged to come in Hawaiian attire – Waikiki style (modest attire appropriate of course), with prizes for everyone in costume!

To top it off- the whole family will be enthralled with Keith Leif, as he performs his Fire and Juggling Show!

Hawaiian Purim Luau will take place on Sun. Mar. 20 5:30pm at the Chabad Jewish Community, 315 N. Main St in New City. Advance reservations are being accepted now for only $15 per adult; $10 per child or $50 family maximum. After March 15, adults are $18, children are $13 or $65 family maximum. To be a sponsor is only $180 and includes dinner for 6.

All members of the community are invited, regardless of background and affiliation.

For further information or to make reservations please call Chabad at 634-0951 x 102 or email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
