2nd Annual Science Fair in Review!

Written by

On Tuesday, May 17th, The Hebrew Academy conducted its second annual Science Fair. The students had a wonderful opportunity to explore the fascinating world of scientific investigation as well as enhance their research, writing, thinking, listening and speaking skills. Each student in grades 3 through 8 was responsible for writing a research report, creating a tri-board display and making a presentation to a panel of judges about their scientific findings. The students in grades Kindergarten through 2nd made a classroom project with their teacher.

All of the students worked diligently on their projects, the results of which were amazing; and the enthusiasm with which the students made their presentations was exhilarating. We were very fortunate to have three experienced people be the judges for this event – Mr. Mayer Perline (marketing and advertising professional), Mrs. Bryant (nurse) and Miss Moseson (science teacher at Monsey Beis Chaya Mushka). All three judges made comments about how impressed they were with the knowledge that was gained by the students and how well they know the scientific investigation process.

While all of the students are winners, the following students won specific awards:

First Place: Jonathan Rubin – What is infrared light?

Second Place: Levi Alpert & Gavi Goldstein – Improving efficiency of solar panels

Third Place: Dan Alpert & David Mendelovits – Dry ice
