Join us for a great evening celebrating Purim. Hear the Megilah with a simultaneous multi-media showing of the Purim story for the children. Followed by refreshments, live music and dancing, and a costume contest with prizes for all who come in costume. A Grand Raffle will held with fabulous prizes. No charge for admission; raffle tickets will sold at the door. For further information call 845-634-0951 x 102. We look forward to celebrating Purim with you and your family! More about Purim The festival of Purim is celebrated every year on the 14th of the Hebrew month of Adar (late winter/early spring). It commemorates the salvation of the Jewish people in Ancient Persia from Haman's plot "to destroy, kill and annihilate all the Jews, young and old, infants and women, in a single day." |

Get out of the cold and go to Chabad where you will warm up at Hawaiian Purim Luau! Well, not exactly in Hawaii (that would be nice!), but there will be plenty of fun and great food for the whole family at our community Purim Feast and Celebration.
The event begins with Megilah Reading at 5:30pm, followed by a Hawaiian buffet dinner of Hawaiian delicacies including an array of island style salads, tangy sesame chicken, Hawaiian Chicken Teriyaki and pineapple sorbet, tropical and exotic cocktails and Hawaiian L’chaims!
Everyone will have a chance to design and create their own Plumeria Lei, and enjoy Jewish Hawaiian music. Adults and children are encouraged to come in Hawaiian attire – Waikiki style (modest attire appropriate of course), with prizes for everyone in costume!
To top it off- the whole family will be enthralled with Keith Leif, as he performs his Fire and Juggling Show!
Hawaiian Purim Luau will take place on Sun. Mar. 20 5:30pm at the Chabad Jewish Community, 315 N. Main St in New City. Advance reservations are being accepted now for only $15 per adult; $10 per child or $50 family maximum. After March 15, adults are $18, children are $13 or $65 family maximum. To be a sponsor is only $180 and includes dinner for 6.
All members of the community are invited, regardless of background and affiliation.
For further information or to make reservations please call Chabad at 634-0951 x 102 or email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
Dear Parents,
The first Friday of the school year will be on October 8th, 2010. We hold a Shabbat Party every Friday where one child is the Shabbat Ima and another the Shabbat Abba. The Shabbat Party is held shortly before dismissal. The Shabbat party is held at 12:55pm. with dismissal directly after at 1:15 pm. The children enjoy the healthy treats in addition to singing Shabbat songs with Mr. Guitar, who would not dare miss this weekly treat with the adorable children!
As we are constantly improving we are considering changing the format of our Shabbat Party and inviting parents to join in but we would like to know what you think. Please fill out the survey by visiting http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/63CMQC9.
