Dear Parents,
We appreciate the efforts many parents are making to help grow our school. It is a joint effort and we all, children and the school, stand to benefit. You can help, too. Please let me know if you are interested in making a Parlor Meeting in your home. We have had the most success in recruiting new students through Parlor Meetings.
A Parlor Meeting will be held at the home of the Weizman's. If you have any friends that may be interested in finding out about The Hebrew Academy, please send them, or accompany them, to the upcoming Parlor Meeting.
Motzei Shabbat, January 10, 2015 at 7 pm at the home of Bari and Ilan Weizman.
Please contact the school office for more information.

Mazal Tov to our very dear Morah Avigail Silver (Pre K Teacher Assistant) and to her parents Mr. and Mrs. Silver (our dear Morah Naomi Silver - Pre K Teacher) on Avigail's engagement to Yosef Karash.
May the new couple merit to build an everlasting edifice upon the foundations of our holy Torah and its Mitzvot.
May their families see much much nachas from them.
Mazal Tov!
Dear Parents,
This is just a reminder to make sure everyone knows next week's schedule, which will be as follows:
Monday, December 29 - Wednesday December 31: School will be in regular session. There will NOT be busing these three days.
Thursday, January 1: No school.
Friday, January 2: No school for students. | Staff In-Service Day: Professional Development
School and busing resume regularly on Monday, January 5, 2015.
Shabbat Shalom!
Dear Parents of Elementary students,
Thank you for your cooperation in bringing your children on time and picking them up on time during the days that busing is not provided. We know it is difficult. We also appreciate your cooperation in supporting your child to meet his/her responsibilities in being on time to school.
Some parents have several pick up times depending on whether they may have a child both in Preschool and in Elementary. When students are picked up early they miss out on vital learning. In addition the interruption causes disruption to the lesson for the other students in the class.
Here are some ideas that may help manage multiple pick up times. You can do these while you wait for the next pick up time: carpool, visit the New City library only a block away, shop at ShopRite or Stop 'N' Shop - both a minute away down the road.
Pick up Times:
- Mon - Wed pick up (grades K-7): 4:35 - 4:40 pm
- Friday pick up (grades K-7): 1:25 - 1:30 pm
Friday pick up (Preschool): 1:05 - 1:15 pm.
We appreciate your punctuality.

Dear Parents,
We would like to invite your child to partake in The Hebrew Academy choir performance when they perform Maoz Tzur at the Grand Menorah Lighting ceremony this Wednesday evening, December 17, 2014, at 5:00 pm sharp. It will take place outside the Rockland County Office Building, 11 New Hempstead Road, New City. The weather that day is predicted to be unseasonably warm for this time of year at approximately 45-49 degrees.
For those children with parental permission, we will transport them to the County Office Building from school. Those children will not go home on the bus that day. Parents are invited to attend the program after which all will be provided with refreshments. The program will begin at 5:00 pm and end at approximately 5:10 pm or 5:15 pm. Parents of choir members must be there at the conclusion (approximately 5:10 pm or 5:15 pm) to pick up their child.
Dear Parents,
This is a reminder that the Book Fair starts after lunch, this Monday, December 15th and will continue until Wednesday, December 24th. It will be located in the student lounge outside of the gym.
Parent volunteers are needed to help with our Book Fair. Please reply to this email if you are available to volunteer any hours during the day. It is my hope that the fair will be open throughout the course of the school day.
On Tuesday evening, December 23rd, we will also need a significant number of parent volunteers at the Chanukah Expo, because books will be for sale throughout the night.
Please think about purchasing books from the Book Fair for Chanukah, because books make an excellent gift. There will be other types of chotkas for sale as well.
Thank you.

Dear Parents,
As Chanukah draws near, please join us in showing Hakarat Hatov to our teachers in thanks for their hard work in caring for our children by contributing to the Chanukah Gift Drive. Please understand that this money will be given directly to the teachers, divided evenly, and is not a donation to the school. The recommended donation amount is $36 per child. This amount will include administration, Secular, Judaic and any specialty teachers that the children have on a regular basis – Physical Education, Music, Computers and Art.
Please send in the money by Friday, Dec. 12 so PTA will have enough time to organize distribution before Chanukah. Please write your child's name on the envelope together with “Chanukah Gifts for Teachers” and indicate your child(ren)’s grade. You may also want to email us to notify us that you are sending in the money and we will ask your child for it, so there won’t be any mix-ups! Please put Chanukah Gift in subject box.
Thank you for your support of our children.
Best wishes for a very Happy Chanukah.
Kind Regards,
Nechama Fish and Corrinne Morlevi
