Ivrit in Kindergarten

By: Morah Pepper
Judaic Studies Teacher, Kindergarten

The Kindergarten class is very busy working on their Hebrew  reading skills.

Each day we play with all of the letters and sounds in different fun ways to retain our interest  and excitement with every new accomplishment. They are really moving along nicely as well as enjoying their progress! Here are some of their creative sound activities which they enjoy creating (see photo on right).

In addition, we love speaking in Ivrit every morning as we learn the names of our favorite animals and follow Morah’s directions as to where to place them or how to retrieve them. The following are quotes from the Kita K students who enjoy this activity:

Yonah Shatkin: “I like the tz’farde’ah best because he hopped into Pharoah’s bed!”

Shaina Bruck: “I like the shafan best because he is furry!”

Shimmi Feig: “I love Hopper the shafan best of all…he’s cute and soft and he is my “Shafanie” !”

Ruthie Israel: “I like the dovi bear best because he is soft!”

We do lots of conversational Hebrew using these lovely and fun creatures and the children are loving it!
