Applying to The Hebrew Academy

Thank you for considering The Hebrew Academy. To apply, you must first fill out an application form. The following Application Guidelines will assist you in applying to our school.

  1. Please completean application for each student you are registering, and include a Student Evaluation fee of $100.00 per student for students entering grades Nursery - Eighth. Return packet to Admissions Coordinator, The Hebrew Academy, 315 N. Main Street, New City, NY 10956. It is most important for both parents or the parent and the person responsible for payment of tuition bills to sign the application. Also, all students applying to enter Grades 5-8 must complete the Student Questionnaire. You will receive an acknowledgment that your application was received.
  2. By completing this application and submitting the Application/Student Evaluation Fee, you are authorizing The Hebrew Academy to contact schools and other sources to obtain information to support this application, and you hereby release every person and institution from any and all liability resulting from or pertaining to the furnishing of records, documents and other information provided to The Hebrew Academy for that purpose.
  3. After the student has been enrolled in his/her current school for at least two months of the present academic year, please give the Recommendation Form to the Principal or guidance counselor and ask that the form be completed and returned to The Hebrew Academy with the appropriate transcripts and test records. A homeroom teacher or advisor may be asked to write supplementary comments on the back of the form. The Recommendation Form should be mailed by the school, not carried in by parents. Parents should sign the Permission for Release of Records form, as schools often will not release records without parental permission.
  4. All candidates for admission will be evaluated by grade-appropriate observation and/or testing.
  5. Candidates suffering from any condition that might impair his/her ability to learn or may require Special Education, should identify themselves early in the application process. Any educational, psychological or other evaluations should be provided with the submission of the Application Form.
  6. Students entering Grades 5-8 should complete the Student Questionnaire in their own handwriting and return it with the application form.
  7. Candidates’ families who wish to consider the school’s financial aid program based on family need should check the appropriate box on the Application for Admission or call the School Office to request the required forms. Families must follow procedures and meet deadlines. Financial aid can be requested only for registered students.
  8. A campus visit for the candidate and family is required. The members of the Admissions Committee may request additional testing and/or a class day visit.

Upon acceptance, an Enrollment Contract, Payment Schedule Contract, Parent Handbook and Student Code of Behavior will be mailed to you.Enrollment is complete when all forms are returned together with the requisite payments.
